members of the groundbreaking death
metal band DYING FETUS, who formed MISERY
INDEX in 2001 and most recently released
their critically championed debut album
"Retaliate" on Nuclear Blast Records

overbearing metal attack will flatten the
listener with its flawless songwriting

People that prefer the vinyl version of Discordia will get
the bonus track Diggin In from the legendary grindcore outfit
Nasum. Also a band that doesnt uses the typical goregrind
issues but wanted to say something with their political and
social view points.
Shifting from Nuclear Blast to Relapse, Misery Index
continues their brutal crusade with "Discordia". Just like
2003's album "Retaliate" they mix elements of death metal,
grindcore and hardcore although sometimes there is room for
some melody in the songs "Breathing Pestilence", "Sensory
Deprivation" or "Discordia". On one hand this makes the
brutal parts kick in even harder but on the other hand it
lacks the total devastation the older work has. I prefer to
be completely grind over by a brutal band like Misery Index
but if you first listen "Discordia" and then follow up
"Pandemican" the total ruination of your ears still happens.
Although Adam Jarvis is drumming his guts out the drums are
not perfectly caught on tape. If you listen carefully you
don't hear a lot of cymbals and the rest of his drum skills
are triggered too much, a more organic feel would fit way
better to this new album. Besides this comment you'll get an
album that's full of tempo changes, harsh breaks, killer
riffs and coincidently a superb metal solo. All these
ingredients are put in a brutal cement mixer where you can't
get out of because it's catchy as fuck as well.
If you like it, buy it.
